Very Impressed!
I have used this Makita 2012NB 12-Inch Planer with Interna-Lok Automated Head Clamp about 4 months and planed more than hundreds boards feet of lumbers. Up to now I have completely pleased with the efficiency of this Makita 2012NB as well as the service of Amazon.
After I gotten this Makita 2012NB, it got stucked while planing. I must stop the motor and release the wood piece. For whatever reason, planer failed to work again though motor was running.
Emailed to Amazon for that situation, they replaced it in 72 hours and let
UPS guy get it from home. I was extremely impressed and pleased
for Amazon’s very fast service.
The Makita 2012NB makes rough surface real smooth regularly.
Often it leaves fine streaks nevertheless it could be eliminated by light sanding. Turning rough-sawn lumber to S4S is very simple.
It’s excellent height adjustment and switch is easily positioned.
Opinions for DeWalt planer state that its knives get dull real fast,
however I do not see any sign of blade problem even with planed hundreds
BF of hardwood.
Everybody knows, it just helps make the surface smooth. To create the lumber straight, need jointer, that is in my next order plan.
After evaluating several choices between jointer and planer, planer won the battle. It believes to be a sensible choice.
One problem.
This Makita 2012NB Planer has the hooks for the dust collection hood, therefore it is only a snap to set up hood. Because it is not included, must find the hood separately for additional $25.
The collection hood works very well. After installation, hardly any dust flying around the shop. I do believe it is a will need to have but not contained in the unit.
Nevertheless, you’ll find nothing to be sought after from the unit itself.

Great Planer I Owned!
I’ve only had this Makita 2012NB for 3 weeks now, but up to now am already really satisfied. The finish actually is as everybody says a “mirror finish” and can need a lot less sanding. Mill marks are almost non existent. I’ve had somewhat of a downside to the board getting stuck, however have not tried waxing it yet, which I’ve read will fix that difficulty. Initially I was worried that it would not have enough ability to handle hardwood panels at 12-inch, understanding that it could have a great deal of tearout. Up to now I’ve ran some cypress and lots of Walnut panels from 10-12 inches through. As you could hear the motor working harder on the walnut, the finish was similar in results as well as the smaller bits of cypress. Completely this Makita 2012NB has proven all of my questions wrong. I would suggest this to everybody. Edit*** Well I’ve had this Makita 2012NB 12-Inch Planer with Interna-Lok Automated Head Clamp at this point for Half a year why not a bit more time, which is still doing like new. I did solve the problem with all the board getting stuck with a bit paste wax. My one issue now could be that I’m in the new home, the Garage just has 2 outlets, with no 220 so I am not able to utilize any dust collection system, and also this thing is really a terrible mess, however I still adore it. Still is really a great shiny finish. In case you are searching for a tabletop planer, this is what you want. I spent several weeks reading and researching for which planer to purchase. Works Great and I Love It!
At the chance of sounding like I am saying what others have said; this Makita 2012NB Planer is made solid, highly easy to use, and getting achievement is straightforward. The only real snipe this Makita 2012NB made was user error after I was initially getting knowledgeable about it.
It’s first project was planing hard maple for a butcher block job. The job arrived on the scene appearing like it absolutely was polished. I was pleased. After that, I’d a short warped bit of 2×4, I desired to produce a handle for any kitchen tool. Performing in two, lengthwise, I planed it square previously putting it on the lathe. Once more, it appeared to be a more pricey, polished piece.
The majority of my tools and equipment are DeWalt, so initially I moved to that brand, however I did not like the opinions that stated the DeWalt brand chews up pricey blades.
